Chrysanthemums for Eye Health
As the spring and summer months roll in, you may be experiencing eye irritations. This is due to the liver processing out any allergens and pollutants. When the eyes are irritated, there may be excess heat in the liver, this is where the chrysanthemum flowers can come in to aid us.
“Chrysanthemum flower (ju hua cha) is perfect for helping to soothe allergy symptoms, especially itchy eyes. Chinese medicine herbalists consider ju hua to be one of the top herbs to benefit the eyes and clear heat, making it perfect for combating red, painful, itchy, teary, or dry eyes. If you’re really suffering, you can even brew up a cup, let it cool, and use the chrysanthemum tea as an eye wash or cool compress!”
I have especially been feeling the allergens this year! this is why iv’e felt inspired to share with you what I have been utilizing to help soothe me. I love making little tea bags out of the chrysanthemum flowers. I use disposable tea bags, or you could use, reusable tea bags or cheesecloth. Brew up some hot water, soak the tea bags, let cool down and lay yourself down to relax with the tea bags on your eyes. Sometimes i’ll even add in chamomile or calendula, for a gentle blend that reduces inflammation and prevents any infection.
The chrysanthemum flower is one I have chosen to add into the “Temple of Yin” membership. You’ll receive 1 bag of flowers, along with your intentionally selected white tea. Join for the month to add in chrysanthemum to your morning tea ceremonies-Or-as a eye compress after a long day! See you in ceremony.
